Opinion 92-05

Question

May a judicial officer actively promote the passage of a bond issue or levy for a regional justice center which will provide additional jail space and superior court facilities? Are there any restrictions on such participation?

Answer

CJC Canon 4(A) and Canon 7(A)(4) permit a judicial officer to actively promote the passage of a bond issue or levy for a regional justice center which will provide additional jail space and superior court facilities. A judicial officer should not, however, engage in any fundraising activities on behalf of the passage or the bond issue or levy.
